Who Am I
My overarching purpose for my artwork and expression started back in 2nd grade after my teacher miss Birtukan told me how to become a better artist. I didn't intend to become an art fan back then, but with her advice and help, I started to like it more, and it started growing with me. Since then, I have been admiring and sketching. I am Emnet Seifu. I go by EMI, and my platform is Ye Sheger Painter; I am an Enthusiastic IT major with a concentration in Software and Programming.
While joining my senior year, I won an award for my Pre AP Art class by Miss Gilly Amy. It was a fantastic experience in her class. Not only my teachers like Miss Birtukan and Miss Gilly, whom I would like to give thanks to, but my friends and the community made me love art more and be inspired. It is also an honor to work voluntarily with the Ethiopian community members to strengthen the community around Texas.
Over the summer of 2013, I volunteered at an organization called Ethiopian SOS Children's Village. I have taught Biology and English for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. It was such a fun experience. Recently I have volunteered in many non-profit organizations to reach out to the youth and inspire them. I was an officer at Habesha Student Union at the University of Texas at Dallas campus. I was an event coordinator for the organization, ensuring our Habesha culture is well presented on and off campus. These activities are the things that kept me going until now. I have been supporting the Ethiopian community and ESFNA since 2015. I have my merch line called Shger Shops, which will relaunch soon.
Last but not least, for my overall reaching goals, I would love to thank my family, especially my parents, for providing every piece of equipment I need and suggesting ideas at all times to continue my hobby. My Instagram and Tiktok FAamily that kept me going since 2014.
